Honored by CDC for Prevention Efforts

RENAL CAREPARTNERS of Woodbridge was recently recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for its work in preventing serious healthcare-associated infections among dialysis patients. The facility participated a voluntary, national collaborative effort to reduce bloodstream infections, which are among the most deadly conditions affecting dialysis patients. The collaborative is a partnership between dedicated hemodialysis providers, CDC, the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and the Mid-Atlantic Renal Coalition.

RENAL CAREPARTNERS Facility Administrator Will Be Keynote Speaker
at MARC’s 2011 Spring Council Meeting

RENAL CAREPARTNERS is excited to announce that Naomi Carbone, Facility Administrator of their Woodbridge, VA facility, will be the keynote speaker at the Mid-Atlantic Renal Coalition’s (MARC) 2011 Spring Council Meeting.  The meeting will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Fairview Park Marriott in Falls Church, VA.  Carbone will deliver the keynote speech titled Taking the Wheel: Self-Management in Dialysis at 8:45 am.

RCP of Woodbridge Establishes a Co-operative Extension Program
with Local High School

Students from Forest Park High School’s Key Club and Learn and Serve have entered into a co-operative extension program with Renal Care Partners of Woodbridge in Woodbridge, VA.  After undergoing an orientation and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration safety training students are presented with various opportunities to assist dialysis patients. 
Orestes Lugo, CEO of RENAL CAREPARTNERS, was so impressed with the students’ hard work and commitment, that he established a $500 scholarship in memory of a hard-working, compassionate technician who was tragically killed in car accident. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a college-bound senior volunteering in the center.
